Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Laptop, 14.0″ FHD Display – 8GB RAM Available on Amazon
With its excellent performance and a slew of modern features, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14 (82KT00GVUS) almost makes you forget it costs so little. You get Windows 11 Home preinstalled, fast SSD storage, and a little more power than most options at this reasonable price.
In this review, we are going to focus on the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14 laptop (82KT00GVUS model). Most budget laptops only have 4 GB of memory, so this laptop packs 8 GB of memory. In the past, such a budget laptop would have a 1,366 x 768-pixel display instead of the full HD (1,920 by 1,080) of the IdeaPad 3 14. And, did we mention it comes with Windows 11 Home preinstalled, so you don’t have to worry about upgrading from Windows 10 present in most economy notebooks.
Pros
- Performance is excellent
- Included is a USB-C port
- Chassis built to last
- The touchpad and keyboard are comfortable
Cons
- Speakers are lacking
- Display is dull

Display and Design
A hexa-core AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor, 256 GB SSD storage, and AMD Radeon 7 graphics aren’t comparable to the HP Pavilion 15. With dimensions of 19 x 11.5 x 3 inches, the IdeaPad 3 isn’t too big compared to two other budget laptops we’ve reviewed recently: the Acer Swift 3 (12.73 x 8.62 x 0.63 inches) and the HP 15 laptop (14.11 x 9.53 x 0.71 inches). Though it’s heavier, it weighs a full pound more than the HP 15’s 3.75 pounds.
There are four USB 3.2 Type-A ports on the laptop’s left edge, HDMI, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack. A USB 2.0 Type-A port and SD card reader is on the right side. Because there aren’t many ports there, most people are right-handed, so you can still plug an external mouse in there.
Keyboard and Touchpad
Although Lenovo ThinkPad keyboards are among the best in the industry, this is not one. The IdeaPad 3 14 is still one of the best budget laptops in 2022. It has a comfortable keyboard with enough travel for key presses to feel satisfying. Touchpads are responsive, and power buttons are equipped with fingerprint readers.
It is unfortunate that the speakers located under the touchpad do not live up to expectations. The sound does not seem to be full or strong enough, and there is some hollowness to the sound. You should headphones or an external speaker instead.
Battery Life
It’s not bad for an inexpensive desktop replacement laptop to run for eight and a half hours on a single charge, but it does not match the endurance of a modern ultraportable. During the day, the Ideapad will probably be able to survive unplugged work sessions or a jiggle in between lectures, but it won’t last all day.
Performance
For this review, we compared the IdeaPad 3 82KT00GVUS to two other 15.6-inch laptops. Its primary purpose is to be used at school and work, and it does so well for the most part.
AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processors are positioned to compete with Intel’s 11th generation Core i5 processors, but with two extra cores, the Ryzen 5 performs even better on daily tasks. You can use this notebook at work and at college since it comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage.
