Early 2015Apple MacBook Air with 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 (11.6 inch Available on Amazon
This year’s 11-inch MacBook Air is similar to last year’s – with one key exception. Our 11-inch MacBook Air review examines a cautious but useful upgrade to Apple’s bargain ultraportable laptop.
Ultraportable notebook computer with a thin and lightweight design, the 11.6″ MacBook Air Notebook Computer (Early 2015) is from Apple. With this 2.38-pound computer, Apple engineers have applied the lessons they learned in designing the miniaturized iPad.
It is both obvious and understated to say that the Air is svelte at the same time. A unibody aluminum enclosure defines the system. At its thickest point, the computer measures 0.68 inches, tapering down to 0.11 inches when it is thinnest. Instead of using an old-fashioned hard drive, the system uses 128GB of flash storage.
In addition to being lighter, thinner, flash storage lets you use the computer for up to 9 hours on the web and 30 days in standby. As strong and light as it is light, the MacBook Air is housed in an aluminum unibody enclosure. Because the housing is made from a solid block of aluminum, it is stronger than those found on laptops constructed using traditional methods. This 11.6-inch 16:9 display has a native resolution of 1366×768 and a glossy finish for enhanced image quality.

Design and build quality
The 11-inch Air for early 2015 follows a similar chassis design to the 13-inch Air, so we won’t have to spend much time on it. In other words, they come with a great build quality and stunning looks, but it’s hard not to be frustrated that they don’t change as much as the 12-inch MacBook did.
It is the only Mac computer and display with a 16:9 widescreen display, and its chassis is made from strong aluminium, and the 11.6-inch TN LCD screen sets it apart from other Mac computers. The 16:10 aspect ratio is more versatile for productivity and entertainment than other Macs made in the past nine years.
This MacBook has one USB 3.0 port on each side as well as a headset jack and a Thunderbolt 2 port on the right, and a MagSafe 2 port on the left. One difference is that it lacks a SD card slot.
Our Verdict
In addition to its super-fast storage, the new 11-inch MacBook Air has a 10 percent improvement in processing power, all of which are priced at the same price as last year. Gaming performance has always been borderline, and now it’s no better and actually a little slower. However, overall battery life was almost a third longer in our tests, a very impressive improvement over the previous generation’s excellent battery life of 10 or more hours.
