The Dell Chromebook 11 has a display resolution of 1366×768 and can be purchased at Amazon. Featuring a dual-core Celeron 2955U processor, 2-4 GB of RAM, 16 GB of solid-state storage, and a 720p webcam. There is 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI, and USB 3.0 connectivity onboard. According to Dell, the system weighs just 2.9 pounds and has a battery run time of up to 10 hours.
The Chromebook 11 may be on to something, not because of its hardware, which seems pretty standard, but because of its emphasis on education. My personal use of Chrome OS is limited, but its limitations could be assets in the classroom. The Chrome OS basically only supports web apps, so there’s little chance students will install malware or any non-approved software. You could wipe and reset these things in an instant. In addition to being low in cost, ChromeBook are also well built, which is always beneficial when it comes to kids.
