Amazon Top Selling ASUS VivoBook L203MA Ultra-Thin Laptop
With its HD screen, good connectivity, and class-leading portability, the ASUS VivoBook L203MA is a great budget laptop for college students who need something for everyday use. You might only need a basic laptop with the right screen size for schoolwork, basic media editing, or simply browsing the Web to be comfortable and competent. If you are looking for a budget desktop replacement laptop that has a USB-C port and checks all those boxes, the ASUS VivoBook L203MA is a good choice.
There are a few advantages of the Acer Aspire 5 (A515-43-R19L) over the VivoBook L203MA-DS04, including a 15.6-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) screen and more storage, but both are good choices for daily use.

L203MA-DS04 Design
On styling, Asus always gets it right, even in its budget line. A silver ‘Asus’ logo is etched in the middle of the honeycomb lid when the VivoBook L203MA-DS04 is closed, and the same theme extends to the keyboard deck and bottom cover. In any case, it weighs 3.2 pounds, looks great for a budget laptop. The enclosure looks great, much better than you’d expect for an 11-inch laptop of this price.
Budget laptops usually have a 1366-by-768 (HD) LCD panel, which is common among LCD screens. Lenovo 130S has it, but other Windows-based competitors like the Acer Aspire 5 (A515-43-R19L) and Chromebooks like the Asus Chromebook C425 also have screens with higher resolutions.
Connectivity
In addition to the Power connector, there are HDMI ports, headset jacks, USB 3.0 ports, SD card readers and USB-C ports on the right panel. On the left panel, there’s a single USB 3.0 port and a headphone jack. The port is located well if you want to connect a wired USB 2.0 mouse.
While multiple USB 3.0 ports would be great, this is still a very good budget PC. Dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 are available for wireless communication, which is much more advanced than some inexpensive notebooks.
Keyboard & Touchpad
There is no backlighting on the ASUS VivoBook L203MA keyboard, which is an important luxury at these prices. Backlit keyboards are available on the latest Acer Aspire 5 laptops and, in some Chromebooks, as well. The one-piece touchpad is tall, spacious and quite responsive, but lacks enough space for a numeric keypad. It’s comfortable to use, but it lacks enough space for a numeric keypad.
Bottom Line
As an everyday-use laptop for college students, the ASUS VivoBook L203MA offers enough features and performance. With its portability, design, connectivity, and HD screen, it is one of the most portable laptops on the market.
In spite of its low resolution and average battery life, the screen does not earn our Editor’s Choice for budget laptops. Nevertheless, it’s a great choice for college students and basic home productivity users looking for an affordable, attractive, small laptop.
