Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-53E5 Gaming Laptop | Intel Core i5-10300H Available on Amazon

It was our April 2021 review of an Acer Nitro budget gaming laptop powered by the Intel Core i5 processor. Today, we are doing the same thing. Apart from being a few hundred dollars cheaper, what changed with the new Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-53E5? As a result of its GeForce GTX 1650 Ti graphics card, the AN515-55-59KS barely managed 40 frames per second when playing at 1080p.

This Acer AN515-55-53E5 has an Nvidia 30-Series GPU (RTX 3050, to be precise), which is a better GPU than the RTX 3050. In exchange for its low price, it is a great value, even if you can’t afford the Acer Predator Helios 300.

AN515-55-53E5’s Look

This is the Acer Nitro 5 family from the look of it. With its red theme and clean black chassis, it still retains the Nitro 5’s signature branding. We like the black Acer logo that doesn’t have LED lighting. The Acer logo doesn’t look childish at all. We appreciate Acer’s thoughtful design.

In addition to its top 144Hz screen, it also has a 720p HD webcam on the top bezel. So you can do online video communications without buying a separate webcam. Its thin two-side bezels and red keyboard design welcome you as soon as you open it. Gaming laptops cost more than 2k, so they don’t even come with a webcam.

How does the Performance go?

Despite its low price, the Acer Nitro 5 model offers good performance. The combination of its processor and dedicated graphics card enables the Nitro 5 to play games smoothly at a high level. Before we go any further, let’s check out its specs.

Good CPU, Decent GPU

Inside Acer’s Nitro 5 laptop model, a 5-core Intel Comet Lake-H CPU is fitted. “H” indicates “High” performance CPUs for laptops.

In addition to having 4-Cores at 2.50 GHz, this processor is capable of running 8-Threads simultaneously with its Hyper-Threading technology, which is not found in every CPU. Furthermore, this processor can clock up to 4.50 GHz when necessary!

We have compared this quad-core CPU with its previous generation and see that it offers faster RAM (2933 vs 2666 MHz), as well as higher CPU speed (2.50 vs 2.40GHz).

How is the battery life?

Acer Nitro 5 RTX 3050 laptops typically have decent battery life, but you cannot compare this laptop to an ultrabook, since it was designed with performance and power in mind. So if you’re looking for a laptop with long battery life, this might not be right for you.

When using it for gaming, the battery will drain faster than that, as you would expect for a gaming laptop. But idle computing tasks will get you 7-9 hours of battery life (Acer claims 11 hours).

Very Upgradeable

The laptop comes with an expansion kit for RAM and SSD, making it very upgradeable, although its storage and RAM are enough for playing games.

This AN515-55-53E5 laptop allows you to upgrade the RAM, the SSD storage as well as the Wi-Fi card. You probably won’t need to upgrade the Wi-Fi card, since it’s already the latest generation.

In total, there are three hard drives, 2x PCIe M.2 slots, and 1x 2.5′′ hard drive bay. Once you are inside, you can upgrade and expand as necessary.
